Private schools in South America are among the most dynamic institutions for learning all over the globe. The schools are governed by the Association of American Schools in South America, which is established in 1961. The AASSA is serving 41 major American schools. This is one of the major factors why many colleges and universities in South America are really soaring high, as far as education is concerned. The board of AASSA is doing its best to provide vital services to its members in terms of educational updates and other activities that will help develop the level of education in the south, including its offshore islands.

In order to be successful in its goal of providing and promoting programs and services to the member schools, AASSA is being administered by an executive director and other professional staff to assist especially in publications, grant management, inservice programs, accounting, purchasing and shipping. The AASA is also created to enhance the quality of American International Education, which, as an organization it greatly values service leadership, effectiveness and quality of education it offers to people.

Since private schools in South America have a very strong and stable organization it can easily iron out minor setback which some times threaten the kind of leadership of its members schools. But so far, the organization is very strong and continues to encourage member schools to really campaign for quality of education. The 41 member schools would also meet during conventions and special planning session to share each others updates and other new programs in regards to the development of member schools in South America.
