Private schools in Africa are more visible and active than government-run institutions. This is the perception of other people that are so concerned about the kind of education African children can benefit while in their younger years. It was noted that private schools in Africa have increased in numbers in recent years and they are supporting poor children. In fact, a report said, private schools in Africa are even outperforming government schools. Whether this report, is true or not, but it is clearly showing that private schools do not only operate for profit. There are still many private institutions now in Africa that give free education, low tuition and all other considerable benefits for the general public to enjoy education. Right now many poor children in impoverished slums are being reached out by private elementary schools.

In the poor vicinity in Lagos State, Nigeria as well as in Ghana a team who conducted research recorded at least 70 percent of school children are enrolled in private schools. At the Lagos lagoon there were 32 private schools that give education to 4,500 children from families of fishermen, fish traders and others. The country also receives funding from foreign sources to continue the education program. The British government has been supporting private schools in Africa. Many times international artists and performers are also supporting Africa and the private schools have been saved by the benevolence of these international performers. Indeed, the private schools in Africa are also doing its best to give education to poor children and helping the family through education. This, being the best weapon to combat poverty once these children graduate from college and become professionals.
