Private schools in South Africa are known as Independent schools which are widely available for all ages. Private schools can be found in all parts of South Africa such as Capetown, Johannesburg and the Eastern Cape. Just like many other private schools around the world, South Africa has many different types of private schools. For example, there are many international schools which have received positive reviews from students who have attended them and their parents. The following things have been said about independent international schools; good quality of education, good physical education and professional. Independent schools in South Africa clearly have good media coverage which is a necessity to make more people aware of the school and hopefully promote it in such a way that students will want to attend.

Independent schools have small classes of students for example some schools have around 800 pupils in the school which are then divided into classes in different years.

The schools provide an education for all years so students can start learning at the age of 4 and carry on studying until they are 18. It starts off with primary education, followed by secondary education and then high school. College will follow afterwards but only if the students achieve certain grades or indeed if they want to carry on with their education.

In South Africa, children can attend nursery if they are between the age of 3 and 4.
