Private Schools Philippines
There are many private schools available in the Philippines and they operate in a similar to schools in the USA.
They operate in a similar way by basing their education on the American system of educating students. Good private schools and other schools use English to communicate and instruct their students. The English language is always used in higher education so by learning English from a young age, students will be able to communicate in two languages; their mother tongue and English. Schools in the Philippines are categorised into two sections, public schools which are funded by the government and private schools which are not.
Schools in the Philippines can be divided into four stages which are pre primary, primary, secondary and then college education. Pre primary school which can be referred to as nursery or kindergarten starts at 4 years of age which is offered in the majority of private schools. After this, students will complete their primary school education which will normally last for six years. This is when students are 6 or 7 years of age. Students will then complete their secondary education for four years where they will then have to complete exams in order to go to a college which they will attend for 3 to 5 years. If students opt towards a career in law or medicine they could be studying at college for 8 years. Students can also attend graduate schools which is an additional two years or more.
Private schools and public schools follow a similar academic calendar where classes start in June and end in March. Universities and colleges differ slightly with their academic calendar with classes running from June to October and then November to March.
There are also foreign schools available in the Philippines for international students which operate in a similar way to both public and private schools.
